The Children’s Museum is rolling into HPL Downtown for two weeks of hands-on adventure! We’re taking over a room inside the library and transforming it into a mini museum experience filled with places to explore, imagine, build, and play. Step into a world where kids can meet live animals, explore exciting science activities, become wildlife rehabilitation specialists caring for injured animal patients in our dramatic play clinic, and create something new each day in Tinker Town. Designed for ages 2–8, every visit is packed with opportunities to move, discover, and get curious.
The pop-up museum will be open Monday–Saturday from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM. Families can reserve a free timed ticket to join the fun.

Hartford Public Library’s history spans more than 235 years. We can trace its very beginnings to the Library Company, formally organized in 1774 by a few subscribers to purchase a "collection of useful and religious books". And now, the library is a national leader in redefining the urban public library in the 21st century as an innovative and stimulating place where people can learn and discover, explore their passions, and find a rich array of resources that contribute to a full life.
