Classroom 139Earn your ServSafe Alcohol Server certification at no cost in this free two-session course. Bars, restaurants, taverns, and private events need certified alcohol servers.
About this course
Serving alcohol responsibly is both a legal requirement and a professional skill. This free two-session course prepares Hartford hospitality and food service workers to serve alcohol safely, recognize intoxication, and protect themselves, their employers, and their guests.
What you will learn
- Connecticut alcohol service laws and regulations
- How to identify and respond to intoxication
- Checking identification and recognizing fake IDs
- Legal liability for servers, bartenders, and establishments
- TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) compliance
- Responsible service strategies for high-pressure situations
What you will earn
- Participants who complete both sessions are prepared to sit for the ServSafe Alcohol Server exam. This credential is required or preferred by many Connecticut bars, restaurants, and event venues.
- Continue your credential journey
- Workshop graduates are encouraged to join our 1 Day Food Handler course course beginning the next Monday.
Session format
- Two sessions, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, Hartford Public Library Central Branch (500 Main Street).
This program is free and open to:
- Hartford residents
- Those working in Hartford
- Anyone opening a Hartford food service-related business
- Participants must be authorized to work in the United States
- No prior ServSafe training required.
