Formed in 2015, The Hartford Sound is a genre-blending ensemble rooted in the traditions of classic jazz and Latin jazz, with a strong voice in original composition. The group made its debut at Pittsburgh’s James Street Gastropub and Speakeasy and has been captivating audiences ever since. Founded by Emmett Goods (trombone), Damian Curtis (piano), and Nelson Bello (percussion), the band brings together a seasoned collective of musicians with a shared commitment to dynamic, soulful performance. Their repertoire spans timeless standards, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, and fresh, original works—designed to engage listeners across backgrounds and generations. In February 2025, The Hartford Sound recorded their debut album, which is slated for release later this year. The project captures the group’s rich blend of tradition and innovation and marks a major milestone in their evolution as a creative unit. Whether in intimate venues or festival stages, The Hartford Sound delivers music that’s rooted, rhythmically rich, and always responsive to the moment.

Hartford Public Library’s history spans more than 235 years. We can trace its very beginnings to the Library Company, formally organized in 1774 by a few subscribers to purchase a "collection of useful and religious books". And now, the library is a national leader in redefining the urban public library in the 21st century as an innovative and stimulating place where people can learn and discover, explore their passions, and find a rich array of resources that contribute to a full life.
