Monday, February 24
3:00pm - 5:30pm
Albany Library
Albany Branch Community RoomThe Albany Branch invites all ages to join us every Monday in February for a celebration of Black culture and history through film.
Each week, we’ll show a movie, accompanied by a related craft activity* that honors the themes of the film.
2/3: Hidden Figures – Celebrate the inspiring story of three African American women mathematicians who helped launch astronauts into space, and create your own space-themed craft.
2/10: Soul – Dive into the world of jazz, passion, and purpose with this animated film, then express your creativity through a musical-themed craft.
2/24: Red Tails – Honor the bravery of the Tuskegee Airmen with this action-packed film while decorating wooden airplanes.
Bring the whole family to enjoy these powerful stories and create something special together!

The Albany Branch Library endeavors daily to maintain its role as one of Albany Avenue’s most vital resources. Library service in Hartford’s North End began in 1909, when a branch library was first established inside the Northwest School. It then moved to rented quarters at 1239 Albany Avenue. The branch’s present location at 1250 Albany Avenue opened in February 1950 in a building designed by H. Sage Goodwin. In 2011 a new 8,000 square foot facility on the corner of Albany and Blue Hills Avenues replaced the sixty-one-year-old structure.
