About this course
Connecticut law requires a certified Food Protection Manager at every licensed food service establishment. The ServSafe Food Manager certification opens doors to supervisory roles, higher wages, and greater responsibility in Hartford's food service industry — and this eight-session course prepares you for the national exam at no cost.
What you will learn
- Advanced food safety management principles
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) system
- Employee training and supervision requirements
- Connecticut Public Health Code compliance
- Foodborne illness investigation and response
- Purchasing, receiving, and storage management
- Facility design and equipment sanitation standards
What you can earn
- Participants who complete all sessions are prepared to sit for the proctored ServSafe Food Manager exam. This nationally recognized credential is required by Connecticut law for food protection managers.
Prerequisite
- Participants must hold a valid ServSafe Food Handler certification to enroll. Not yet certified? Register for our free Food Handler course first.
Session format
- Eight sessions, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, Hartford Public Library Central Branch (500 Main Street).
This program is free and open to:
- Hartford residents
- Those working in Hartford
- Anyone opening a Hartford food service-related business
- Participants must be authorized to work in the United States
