Hartford Public Library’s highly popular Baby Grand Jazz series is back for its 21st season in 2025; with a spectacular line-up of the best jazz musicians in the region.
February 23, 2025 - O3 featuring Zaccai Curtis
O3 is a collaborative trio that sits on the edge between the known and the unknown. Born out of a mission that started at the Hartt School's Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, Matt Dwonszyk, Corey Garcia and Brian Simontacchi have been developing a group sound since 2009, adding Corey to the mix in 2013. Because of their shared musical values and experience, the trio operates with trust and explosiveness. Corey has the honor of being the last drummer for the late Charnett Moffett, and can be heard with Ku-umba Frank Lacy, Jon Elbaz, and Mike Troy. Matt Dwonszyk is the bassist in Jonathan Barber's Vision Ahead and has been a Connecticut staple for over 15 years. Brian Simontacchi can be heard with straight ahead groups, avant garde ensembles and salsa and merengue bands from New Jersey to Hartford, and has been employed by Ku-umba Frank Lacy, Josh Evans Big Band, Mark Johnson, Allen Lowe, Fabio Morgera, and more. Special guest Zaccai Curtis is one of the world's foremost latin jazz and jazz pianists, having recorded and toured with Brian Lynch, Donald Harrison, Ralph Peterson, Christian Scott, Cindy Blackman Santana, Abraham Burton, Lakecia Benjamin, and more.

Hartford Public Library’s history spans more than 235 years. We can trace its very beginnings to the Library Company, formally organized in 1774 by a few subscribers to purchase a "collection of useful and religious books". And now, the library is a national leader in redefining the urban public library in the 21st century as an innovative and stimulating place where people can learn and discover, explore their passions, and find a rich array of resources that contribute to a full life.
