This exciting initiative will encourage young readers to keep up their reading habits during the summer break. It promotes a love of reading and learning while preventing the summer slide. With engaging themed reading challenges, fun activities, virtual reading sessions, and a chance to win book-related prizes, these programs are sure to be a hit with kids and families.
Programs for grades 6-8 run from 10am – 12pm on:
Saturday 7/20, Saturday 7/27, Saturday 8/3, Saturday 8/10, Saturday 8/17, Saturday 8/24
Programs for grades 3-5 run from 1pm - 3 pm on:
Saturday 8/3, Saturday 8/17
For children in grades 3-5, parents must be present. This is not a drop off program.
An end of the program party will be held on Saturday, 8/31 from 10 - 12 pm!

The Albany Branch Library endeavors daily to maintain its role as one of Albany Avenue’s most vital resources. The Albany Branch was established in 1926. It was first located in the Northwest School and then in rented quarters at 1239 Albany Avenue. The branch’s present location at 1250 Albany Avenue opened in February 1950 in a building designed by H. Sage Goodwin. In 2011 a new 8,000 square foot facility on the corner of Albany and Blue Hills Avenues replaced the sixty-one-year-old structure.
