A community conversation with HPL and Haneef Nelson on "The Important Role Music Played for Black Culture from Slavery to Present''
Using some theme from the book, "Homegoing" by Yaa Gyasi to discuss music and resilience in Black culture past to present. Copies of the book will be given out.
Join us on Monday, October 16th, for our first Community Engagement Fellows event - an engaging conversation with Hartford Public Library and Haneef Nelson about "The Important Role Music Played for Black Culture from Slavery to Present."
The discussion will be based on Yaa Gyasi's Homegoing but no need to read the book beforehand—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm. We’ll be going to a restaurant on Park Street for dinner before heading to the Hartford Public Library Park Street Branch (604 Park Street). As a special bonus, you can also seize the opportunity to obtain your HPL card, which grants access to various Hartford perks!
